Introduction to cold heading process characteristics
The cold heading process
is suitable for iron, copper, stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium alloy,
aluminum and other materials for cold heading and cold extrusion forming
(extrusion, backward extrusion, and composite extrusion). There are various
sizes of parts it can make, such as inside and outside hexagon screws, flange
screws, hollow, solid special-shaped parts. Mostly used for producing complex
parts for aerospace, railway, shipping, automobile, wind power, and other
industries. It is a kind of efficient automated production method with many
properties and multiple processes.
Cold heading has the following advantages:
1. Cold heading at room
temperature will produce a workpiece surface with high brightness, high
precision and superior strength properties.
2. By using cold heading
saves raw material, reduces labor costs, and avoids repeated investments in
other machine tools.
3. The cold heading
process utilizes moulds with wire to form the product directly at a time, and
it is controlled by a mechanical arm. It greatly increases production
efficiency and is safe and reliable.
4. Cold heading can
process the complex parts that other machine tools will not be able to process.
5. The cold heading
process can replace hot forging in China, where there is currently a cold
forging machine. Outer-hexagonal can be produced toM30*370 m/m, and hexagonal
to M36*350 m/m. It saves labor costs and energy loss, which also greatly
improves production efficiency.
